[Comp Guide] Competitive Team Building (For Beginners)

Image
Let's Do Little Team Building Credits: This blog post was taken from the PokéMMO Forum . Written by:  FinnTheMember Hello my friends ! I noticed many players having trouble with building competitive teams. Especially beginners having this problem and their elections end up with copying winner teams. Same stats, same moves, same combinations. Playing against mirror is fun? I don't like that. So i always tried to play with different pokemons and my goal was to be able to use all pokemons in this game. Before the beginning, i have to say, this is my personal team building method.  I never won any official so, i can't say "its perfect" but this guide can help you to understand logic and maybe you can improve or develop these infos for yourself at future. In my team building, there are 3 roles. 1)Guards 2-Walls 3-Strikers   ,  i'll start to explain from number 3 to 1. 3-Strikers:  You can call th...

[Comp Guide] Sketch Guide

Image
Post credits:  Pokemmo Forum Sketch is a move that copies the last move used by the other pokemon. This allows Smeargle to learn any move (Not named Struggle) in the game. However, it doesn't work in PVP. This means you must use other methods to get moves on Smeargle. Methods: First method is to g et a pokemon with the move you want to sketch and more speed than your smeargle, then enter a double battle with an NPC trainer. Make pokemon A use the move, then make Smeargle sketch said move by targeting the pokemon. Second method : Step 1: Get a pokemon with the move you want sketched. Step 2: Go to Artisan Cave Step 3: Use whatever move it is on the wild Smeargle. (You must win the speed tie). Step 4: Once the Smeargle has sketched the move. Step 5: Switch  to your own Smeargle to sketch the move off the wild Smeargle OR catch the wild Smeargle and it will retain the sketched move. Note on the second method : - If the move you're sketching is a damaging ...

[Comp Guide] Finding your Hidden Power

Image
Credits:  Pokemmo Forum The content listed here was originally taken from the Pokemmo Forum. Hidden Power is a strange move whose type (which can be anything except normal) and base power (which can range anywhere from 30-70) is determined by a pokemon's IVs thats obtainable from the rocket game corner. Starmie doesn't usually need hidden power because it can learn so many different types of special based moves that play off its great special attack stat, but what about Arcanine whose great base 110 attack can really only be utilized with ExtremeSpeed? What about Jolteon who has to retreat from or fall to every ground type in the game? This is where Hidden Power finds its niche. Since Hidden Power's attributes are based on your pokemon's IVs there's nothing you can do to affect what they'll be, but you can use the formulas used to calculate them to learn what to look for in the marketplace. If you have a pokemon whose IVs you already know and want t...

[Comp Guide] Pokémon Damage Calculator

Image
Post credits to RuinManiacBlue So, it's time to add something that isn't just copied from the PokeMMO forum. xD This is a tool I've been using a lot lately, not much while I was playing the original games tho (Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and so on). The reason for that is that those games, while playing against NPCs, were way too easy, and no much strategy was required, all you needed was a higher level Pokémon in your party and you were pretty much good to go. But PokeMMO tournaments and playerXplayer dynamics are a whole new story, having your Pokemon and your oponent's Pokemon at the same level, will require you to come up with some strategies sometimes. The  Pokémon Damage Calculator tool is a third party feature very usefull for playing comp, even tho it's developed for games with later gen moves/Pokes available, you can definitely use it to have ideas for move sets for a specific Pokemon, and even suggestions for EV training, a...
